Today is the Second Sunday of Lent. The Gospel (Matthew 17:1-9) is the account of The Transfiguration of Jesus. You’ve heard and read this account before. You recall some of the most important details of the account. Today, try to imagine yourself on that high mountain with Jesus, Peter, James, and John. Imagine your excitement, wonder, and awe, as Jesus is transfigured in front of you. And, oh my goodness, imagine your joy when you hear from above, God’s voice saying to you, them, and all of us, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him.” You’re there! You hear it! You see it! You believe! You’re all in!
And then Jesus says to them, to you, and to us, “Rise, and do not be afraid.” Let’s listen to Jesus and live our belief with courage!
Today, tomorrow, and forever, let’s strive to seek the awe, the belief, the love. Let’s take the time. Let’s make the time! Let’s ask, pray, listen, and believe! And let’s show our gratitude to God for all the blessings He gives us. Let’s continue our progress in Lent to grow and show our love of God, our neighbor, and ourselves.
