Jesus performed many miracles during His public ministry. Many are recorded in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. One of the most beloved, well-known, and recounted miracles is when Jesus fed the vast crowd of thousands of men, women and children who followed Him to a deserted place. He took five loaves and two fish and fed the crowd and collected twelve baskets of fragments. Today’s Gospel (Matthew 14: 13-21) is the account of that miracle. 

Trying to define a miracle in this space is futile. I do think we’re on solid footing to say that among many motivations for miracles could be to reveal God’s glory, to confirm a divine message, and / or to inspire faith. 

Let’s look for the miracles in our lives. Let’s be more attentive to the wondrous glory of God. Let’s look with gratitude and wonder and awe at the sunrise and sunset, the magnificence of a newborn child, the beauty of creation, nature, and loving relationships, and other “miracles” we encounter. Let’s strive to take the time to see and believe. 

Junior High Youth Group

That was great fun last Sunday! Lots of kids laughed, ate, talked, prayed, and shared. 

We’ll gather about monthly during the school year.
